Long-term results of indirect revascularization of the lower extremities in ischemic lesion of the femoral-popliteal-tibial segment
The article presents the results of complex examination and surgical treatment of 109 patients
that were operated in the department of vascular surgery of the Transcarpathian Regional Clinical
Hospital named after A. Novak for chronic ischemia of the lower extremities of the IIB and IIIA degree
with obliterating atherosclerosis of the vessels of the lower extremities. Depending on the type of
intervention, patients were divided into 4 groups: I group included 50 patients, who underwent
profundoplasty + rotor osteotrepanation (ROT) (IIB – 12 patients, IIIA – 38 patients); II group included
20 patients, who underwent lumbar sympathectomy (LSE) + ROT (IIB – 8 patients, IIIA – 12 patients);
III group – 21 patients, who underwent ROT (IIB – 6 patients, IIIA – 15 patients); IV group – 18 patients
with lumbar sympathectomy (LSE) (IIB – 2 patients, IIIA – 16 patients). All patients were assessed
with the deep-femoral-popliteal index (DFPI), in which it was mathematically revealed that the
value of DFPI ≤0.36 let to preserve the limb in 62% of cases during the course of profundoplasty and
rotor osteotrepanation, with a 2-fold decrease of the value of DFPI 0.4 and higher.
